WEBINAR: Food for thought – digesting the Commission’s CAP proposal
Negotiations over the EU’s future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) are under way and shaping up to be a major source of political contestation in 2026, as the discussions over the EU next big budget (MFF) shifts from broad political priorities to specific prioritizations and figures.
Indeed, the Commission’s proposal promises sweeping changes to the structure the CAP with the likely abolition of the two-pillar funding model, likely funding cuts, and a greater role for member states in determining allocations, to name but a few changes.
While the final allocations and structure of the CAP will not be determined for some time, with the dust firmly settled following the Commission’s original CAP proposal, it is now possible to discern key themes and priorities in the proposal for a post-2027 CAP.
In this webinar we ask, what are the priorities shaping the post-2027 CAP, how do these play out in different EU member states, and how are the Commission’s new political priorities for agriculture set to shape the political debate over agriculture’s future in years to come?
